I really enjoy some of Oppo, but of late I've become bored because it's a lot of work to weed my way through the gifs and NSFWs, and otherwise harmless but nearly worthless posts.
I used to read !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , but often I don't even see it, it too gets lost in the background of Oppo. Surely this problem exists on other Kinja'd sites.
I would dearly love a filter so I could read posts from those of you who take the time to write thoughtful and fun posts. They don't have to be long, but I sure appreciate the authors who at least describe what the link or photo is and why I should care. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

It's more of a discussion forum on here than a curated blog. I'm confused as to what you mean by the best of oppo gets lost, surely you can search for it and read the most recent one and avoid scrolling through oppo completely if that's what you wish.

Several thousand read each and every Best of Oppo. DasWato is doing Spinelli's work and hopefully will continue to do so.

You could always type "best of oppo" into the search bar.

There are a couple of ways to accomplish this. You can always access Best of Oppositelock via http://jalopnik.com/tag/best-of-op… .
You can also follow only the people whose content you wish to see. You'll see content from only these users by selecting "Private View" in the upper-left.

Exactly, I'm not sure why best of oppo wouldn't fulfill the needs of someone who just wants to read the more well written posts. Best of oppo always seemed well done to me.

You could also read the Jalopnik FP where they are very good about sharing quality oppo articles, including The Best of Oppo.

But you're assuming their stuff is good ;-) I do that, but I tend towards Autoblog for news.

I can search for it, but I'd rather have a filter of authors I like to read.

I can search for it, but I'd rather have a filter option.

Ahhhh, now that's an idea. Funny thing I tried Private View and it hung. It could just be Kinja going crazy today though. I will try it again.

DasWato is fantastic!

I might be wrong but cant you follow individual people? In the same way you can follow any kinja blog.

You are right and I do. I didn't know about the "Private View" option, which doesn't work today, but I'll try it.

I generally just scan the headlines. Plus, its mostly entertaining, rarely newsworthy. I also find writers on Oppo that I like and follow them on Kinja.

How to get the absolute best of Oppositelock: leadbull911.kinja.com
![]() 05/05/2014 at 13:32 |

We don't have "filters" but that is why we use tags
http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/tag/best-of-op…
I know I tag all my longer pieces with "articles"
http://automatchtom.kinja.com/tag/articles

Follow people you like, unfollow oppo, then look at your feed.

The only issue with this is that you wouldn't discover new authors or just one time posts that are worthwhile.

You make a fair point.

Excellent answer!

So, here's the problem with this method - you get every comment the author makes. I don't mind reading comments, but I'm far more interested in their articles.

Heh, thanks. As others have mentioned, the Best of Oppo tag page is the easiest way to find those posts and you can follow authors who's stuff you want to read specifically. Other than that you kind of have to rely on me, I guess. :)
It's just kind of the nature of Oppo - you'll have to take the good with the bad - you can follow it in whatever way works best for you.
Oh, and that post you linked at the bottom of your post was satirical.
